WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ?
Occupational Therapist is one of
health care professional career that help people achieve independent in their
life. Occupational therapist assist people in developing the current skills or
new skills for the job of living required for independent and satisfying of
lives. Working with all age’s group of people, helping them to carry out the
activities has become a part of the job.
According to American
Occupational therapy Association, occupational therapist provides services such
as :

Perform assessments for health risks related to potential for falls,
safety in independent living, and cognitive/memory
screens in older adults

Evaluate children for gross and fine motor deficits, sensory processing or
adaptive behavior differences
which may result in developmental delays
• Teach
strategies to incorporate healthy habits and routines into daily activities for
clients of all ages and abilities

Identify solutions to personal and environmental barriers limiting
clients from engaging in healthy activities
•
Educate about the importance of relaxation and rest to achieve balance
between work and leisure; teach relaxation techniques
•
Provide skills training in areas such as socialization, care giving,
parenting, time management, stress management, etc.

The first thing you would want to know is whether the school you are considering has an accreditation. Before qualifying for a national certification exam, you are required to complete an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education program or ACOTE.
