Burden Care Asessements


this is some example assessement for burden care.. 
1)Zarit Burden Interview
Developed by:
Steven H. Zarit (USA)
Objective:
To assess the level of burden experienced by the principal caregivers of older persons with senile dementia and disabled persons.
Year : 1980 / 2001
Also known as Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) and Burden Interview (BI).
Translation of ZBI are available in French, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish & Brazilian.
The items(questionnaires):
  1. Generated based  on clinical experience with caregivers of adults with dementia.
  2. Word subjective.
  3. Include aspects of distress, perception of social, physical health, financial, emotional burden and relationship.
  4. Originally a 29-item scale , the 22 item scale is more commonly used.

2) Care- Giving Burden Scale

Develop on 1994 which is domain on social aspects
Description :
-   a 13-item questionnaire
- developed to measure the subjective burden of the caregiver.
-It was originally developed using a sample of informal caregivers of psychogeriatric patients.
-The CBS has two subscales :
- measure Relationship (7 items)
- Personal Consequences (6 items).
-Scoring/Interpretation
 Once the questionnaire is completed, the items are recoded where an original items rated 1 or 2 are given a value of 0 and items originally rated 3,4, or 5 are given a value of 1. 
  No information is available regarding interpretation of the score.
-Time to Administer: Approximately 10-15 minutes


3) Caregiver Strain Index (CSI)
Develop in 1983 by M.Terry Sullivan
 This tools is designed for the person who care for chronically disabled elders.
Used as a screening tools to identify the families who faced with the  strain caregiving experience.
Is a tool that can be used to quickly identify families with potential caregiving concern.
It is a 13-question tool that measure strain related to care provision
Positive responses to 7 or more items on the index indicate a greater level of strain.
       This instrument is used to assess individual of any age who have the responsibility of a caregiver for an older adult.
       There score:   If Yes=1 and No=0
       The instruction given:
“ I am going to read a list of things that other people have found to be difficult. Would you tell me if any of these apply to you? “
